It is made hard to find large arapaima specimens today. The arapaima is a predatory fish that eats fish, birds, monkey and any other animal that it can catch. Arapaimas prefer to hunt close to the surface since they need to breathe oxygen from air, the fact that this fish need to air from the atmosphere every 10-20 minutes.

The arapaima is found in various habitats in the Amazon River, it lives in white water as well as clear water. The arapaima is egg laying mouth brooding species that tend to its eggs as well as its larvae. They will aerate the water to make sure that the eggs get enough oxygen. The pheromone makes the larvae stay close to their parent where they can be protected from predator.

Giant Stingray

THE TRUE MONSTERS IN THE WORLD’S

Fishers and scientists announced the world's largest known freshwater GIANT STINGRAY
The giant stingray, weighing an estimated 250 to 450 kilograms was reeled in on January 2009 in Thailand (recording in National Geographic.)
The stingray's body measured 2 meters wide by 2.1 meters long. The tail was missing. If it had been there, the ray's total length would have been between 4.5 and 5 meters.
The giant stingray once overfished may be more abundant than previously thought and it may confirm the giant stingray as the heavyweight champ of the Megafishes
The Thai populations were once considered critically endangered although with the discovery of new populations the stingray's abundance appears higher than previously believed
Freshwater giant stingrays are among the largest of the approximately 200 species. They can be found in a handful of rivers in Southeast Asia and northern Australia.
Much is still unknown about the species including whether or not it can swim out to and survive at sea. The species was first described scientifically only in 1989.

Alligator Gar

THE LEGEND OF ALLIGATOR GAR

It's a beast from the age of the dinosaurs — a monster with razor sharp teeth, armoured scales, and a nasty reputation: the alligator gar. The alligator gar is one of North America’s most unusual fish and one of the largest freshwater fish in the world. It can grow up to 10 feet long and live up to 50 years.
The Alligator gar has two rows of teeth on upper jaw like are needles, they will latch on or dig into their prey. The alligator gar has outlived the dinosaurs because it has some exceptional survival tools.
The alligator gar can breathe air from the surface allowing them to live and marches where oxygen levels are low. Alligator gar scales are rock hard. The whole back of this fish is covered with armor-like scales. Each scale is about as thick as a quarter and tough as nails.
The female alligator gar can produce over than 100,000 eggs bit the quantity of these eggs not unusual. The eggs contain that remarkable (a deadly toxin).
Many people believed that the gar gobble up highly prized sport fish like bass and redfish, so when they find a gar at the end of their line, they kill it — even if they have no use for the fish. The legend about gar wiping out sport fish and taking bites out of humans is myths. Alligator gars are opportunistic feeders, not blood-thirsty monsters. They want to spend the least amount of energy as they possibly can to consume their food.

The sawfish’s scientific name is Pristis microdon. Pristis means “saw” in Greek, and the word microdon refers to the word micros, meaning “small.”
The rostra teeth of sawfish are sometimes used for cockfights: individuals can attach the teeth to roosters’ legs to be used as spurs. This practice adds to the value of sawfish in the marketplace and Traditional Chinese medicine can use the eggs, bile, and oil of sawfish. The rostrum can also be used in religious ceremonies.
The price of a sawfish’s rostrum can add up to over $1,000 dollars. While the sale of rostrum is banned, sales still occur. Due to increased demand for sawfish fins, just one pair of fins can be sold for around $3,000 in some markets.

Roland Lorkowski (A German Biologist) who’s are claims to introduced the WELS CATFISH illegally to the Ebro River in 70 an. The Ebro River has the highest water flow on the Iberian Peninsula, impact that thing other countries reported adverse ECOLOGICAL IMPACT after the introduction the Wels Catfish.
The skin on wels catfish lacks scales, contains sensory cells and contributed to respiration through oxygen absorption or carbon dioxide secretion. The wels catfish is well adapted to living in fresh water with low visibility and has small eyes.
